Halt Nederland

Halt Nederland is the national organisation of the Halt offices; it promotes the interests of the Halt offices and represents them in various political, legal and social deliberation forms.
Halt Nederland confers with, among others, the Ministry of Security and Justice, the Ministry of the Interior, the Public Prosecution Service and the police.

National Promotion of Interest and Policy Development
Halt Nederland tracks and influences national developments of interest to Halt at the Ministry of Security and Justice, other ministries and cooperating organisations, and participates in national deliberation forms in which the Halt sector wants to be represented. It also formulates its position and policies concerning new developments in the implementation of Halt programmes.

Registration
At the request of the offices, software applications such as AuraH and Cognos have been introduced, which are used for the registration of information of the Halt Stop programmes. Information obtained in this manner is partly being used to further develop Halt policies.

Method Development, Innovation and Professional Development
Halt Nederland arranges up-to-date descriptions of legal, financial and administrative guidelines required by Halt. Advice is also given on suitable teaching methods and research is carried out for new methodical options.
Accordingly, staff members of the Halt offices can participate in a whole range of training courses.

Advise and Information
Halt Nederland informs and gives advise to the Halt offices on the issues referred to above. Furthermore, Halt Nederland gives advise to other interested organisations on activities carried out by the sector. This may involve persons involved in the Halt programme, for instance parents and juveniles, victims, cooperating organisations, ministries, persons involved in the crime prevention work of the Halt offices, including schools and local authorities, or other interested parties such as pupils or foreign organisations. Public information materials and information packages have been developed for this.

Cooperation in the Halt sector
Joint positions on current working methods and reforms can be developed through close cooperation and information sharing within the Halt sector, which will further improve professionalism. Halt Nederland therefore regularly holds meetings in which both subjects of general interest and specific issues are discussed.

Funding of the Halt programmes
Halt Nederland carries out the funding of the Halt programmes on behalf of the Ministry of Security and Justice.
